Label // End Hits Records
When I heard that guitarist John Porcelly from foundational hardcore bands such as Youth Of Today, Shelter, and Judge (along with what could be a nod to the Dag Nasty song of the same name) I could not wait to get my hands on the album
The kind people at End Hits Records were kind enough to provid me an advance listen.
Right from the start I am reminded of hints of 7 Seconds with hight pitch vocals and break neck 2-step tempos.
The album starts out so strong, especially with tracks like "Bring Me the PMA" and I wish the album would keep up this type of tempo.
While the album is very good, it does devle into pop-punk waters that are a bit too on the nose for me. "I Will Forget" sounds like it could be off of Fall Out Boy's Take this to your grave album. Members of Shelter and Youth of Today it was my hope that this would continue to carry the ethos of the first two songs
There are some really great notable parts on this album, for example the melodic and dissonant guitar work on "Feelig Down" along with the breakneck speed on "Earthlings"
This album could almost be 3 separate albums spanning multiple generes as it ends with "Last Forever" an almost power ballad reminiscent of late 90's alternative.
Regardless, this is an album worth your time. I few more songs like the first 3 on this album and I would have given it a 5 out 5. I look forward to what Values Here will put out next
