Baltimore based 5 piece, Praise returns with a 3 song gem in EP form. Speaking with guitar player Anthony Dye - each song on this EP was written by a different member (check out the interview here). From start to finish the album is a great addition to the Praise discography.
The first song, "Coming Up For Air" kicks off with bright melodic bass leads and then into the trademark praise sound chorus comes out of no where seemingly. The sound is bright, the tempo's are fast. In true Praise fashion, the subject matter is heavy and inspiring. This song deals with the desire for seeing someone you care about fail to reach their potential and wishing they would achieve more.
"Good Grief" Opens with familiar DC hardcore feel, fast, rapid spoken word, explosive verses and features a great break down. The lyrical content focuses on the two sides of the same coin as it dives into the relationship between love and grief. Holding on to memories while navigating loss.
"Chasing Colors" wraps up this 3 song EP with beautiful bass tones, rocksteady feel, and guitar lines that hint at almost twangy sounds. The narrative wrestles with the tension of knowing when to say good by to something that has provided so much, but requires the rest of life to be put on hold. As the last song on the album, the question is begged, Is this a sign of larger changes for Praise? Hopefully not.
"I write this down from a different place From where I was and where Ill be"
