If you are uninitiated with the work of hip hop artist Propaganda, let this review and interview serve as a proper introduction. LA artist Propaganda is a hip hop artist, activist, coffee connoisseur, podcast host, at the very least. All of these threads (and more) come shining through on his 11th album (+/- an album depending how you slice it), "This Is Our Fellowship".
In what is an unapologetic opening to dudes everywhere. "This Is Our Fellowship" aims to transform the masculine experience in today's society. Prop immediately pinpoints the pitfalls and false narratives so often kids, husbands, fathers buy into every day. If you can relate to any of the message of this album within the first one minute and 46 seconds, Prop is inviting you to join the fellowship.
Carving his way through the verbose theological hip-hop scene Propaganda is no stranger to sharing the complex relationship of faith and real life. This album continues to push deeper into all of those aspects. If this album doesn't challenge you in some way, you probably are not listening close enough.
The album is 12 tracks of encouragement, challenging inspiration, and self checks. Propaganda invites the listener to take part in this fellowship, covering the gambit of topics from the duality of masculinity, vulnerability, honesty, the healthy use and management of anger, societal frustration, to the power of visionary fiction ("Build") to bring positive change to fruition.
Turn the bass up, grab a cup of coffee, and strap in for the journey with this one.
